This week we reached the letter K. And is for Kindness in human shape.
Explainng: today is the birthday of a Kind heart. My brother Evaldo is 45 today. This is the man who's always around when I need him since my childhood. More than my brother, he's a wonderful friend, with the brightest soul ever, always ready to help his siblings and friends. He's quiet, but got a sharp tongue - family's heritage - when he decides to talk, and then he's hilarious. As a bonus, he's an excellent photographer, that's what he does for a living.
When my father got too weak due to his prostate cancer, he (who still lives with my mother, to keep an eye on her, as he says...) would watch tv with him in the evenings, and repeat every line that my dad wasn't able to hear, and it used to be funny listening to him repeating mellowing lines that an actress was saying in a scene. He was at home with mom when dad passed away. It was him who was with our sister Dedê in the middle of the night, at hospital, when she passed away as well.
He was the first one to arrive - after Rodrigo, bien sûr - at the hospital when Lucas was born, and since then, took endless photos of our little family.
He loves Formula-1, vintage Rio de Janeiro, black and white photos, and chocolate. And he tries to love my cat.
So today I send a Kiss to my Kind-hearted brother, whom I love so much.
