ABC Wednesday's Round 3 - C

One more week, one more letter, and this is C... for Cats! They're a passion for me. Below you see Almighty Baruck in all his splendour... He's with us for 8 years, when I rescued from the streets this lonely, very ill and hungry little kittty. We treated him but seems like the hunger will never end, no matter how much we feed him... He loves taking long naps in our bed or in our shoes closet (Tanner, Mrs. B.'s cat beats him in this weird-places-to-take-a-nap, though!)

"The cat (Felis catus), also known as the domestic cat or house cat to distinguish it from other felines, is a small carnivorous species of crepuscular mammal that is valued by humans for its companionship and its ability to hunt vermin, snakes and scorpions. It has been associated with humans for at least 9,500 years.
A skilled
predator, the cat is known to hunt over 1,000 species for food. It can be trained to obey simple commands. Individual cats have also been known to learn on their own to manipulate simple mechanisms, such as doorknobs. Cats use a variety of vocalizations and types of body language for communication, including meowing, purring, hissing, growling, squeaking, chirping, clicking, and grunting. With 69 million of them present in American homes, cats are the most or the second most popular pets in that country. Cats also may be the most popular pet in the world, with over 600 million in homes all over the world. They are also bred and shown as registered pedigree pets. This hobby is known as the "Cat Fancy".
Until recently the cat was commonly believed to have been domesticated in
ancient Egypt, where it was a cult animal. However a 2007 study found that all house cats are probably descended from a group of as few as five self-domesticating African Wildcats Felis silvestris lybica circa 8000 BC, in the Near East."

So far, so good.. But what called my immediate attention was this:
"Some cats can be trained to use the human toilet, eliminating the litter box and its attendant expense, unpleasant odor, and the need to use landfill space for disposal. Training may involve four to six weeks of incremental moves, such as moving and elevating the litter box until it is near the toilet, as well as employing an adapter such as a bowl or small box to suspend the litter above the toilet bowl. Several kits and other aids are marketed to help toilet-train cats. When training is complete, the cat uses the toilet by squatting on the toilet seat over the bowl." Wow!!! I remember watching that comedy with Ben Stiller where Robert de Niro's cat uses the toilet, but I thought it was only a joke! How naive! It would be sooo great if Baruck did the same - hmmm.... not in our own toilet bowl, but maybe if he had one for himself?? LOL
I'm so used to have my cat fussing around, that I don't know what I'd do without him in our lives... And wha's a witch without a cat? <;o)

Great looking cat! Tanner is a wack-o, but, truth be told (don't tell Tanner) I prefer my Tiger. She's cuddly and calm and was a bottle fed rescue kitty that only had one good eye.

I think the ones you save and nurse back to health always hold a special place in your heart, don't they?

Cats are same the world over, it seems. Our small cat eats more than I do, weight for weight. Gets more sleep too.

You may already know this, but what you have there is called a "tuxedo cat"...   I've got one like that myself, and she is the love of her life...   If you look hard enough you can even find a link on my blog to her own silly little blog... --She has a litter box, but usually prefers to do her business outside, but if I could train her (good luck) to use the toilet, that would be great too...

Oops -- I meant to say "the love of MY life", not hers, but I suppose you understood what I was getting at...
Best regards, Don.

Baruck is very handsome! Our home is one of those six million that has a cat....we have two, spoiled rotten cats, Harley and LuLu. I've heard about that toilet training, too, but I don't think I want to share mine with my cats!!

I'm with you -- and since my daughter 'left' Bean with us when she went off to school, I don't know how I've lived without one for so long.(A silly name, I know; her brother was named 'Dip', I swear!)
Great 'C' post!

Haha, Puddy used the toilet, to drink water, but I doubt , altho he is smart, and I trained him to go out the door before I count to 6 ( in one try), I think he might balk at being this human.. Of course, he does speak English, mostly what is discernible is 'H-row'
that he says when he comes inside form being out, and he expects a hello back, too.
Love your photos.

Ok.. let me change it up. I like cats, if they don't life with me. Same with the canine's.

However, if a cat peed in the toilet, and I saw it, I'd have to give it a lot more liquid, and giggle ... alot!

Congrats on the cool award you got earlier in the week as well!!
Really cool :)
