ABC is here again, and letter D is for Dire Straits!
This Britsh band is another must at home. It was on the early 80's, when I was a teenager (*sigh*) that I discovered them, for my dad's despair - he even liked the band, but listening to them out loud every single day drived him crazy! Poor dad (another great D of mine, btw...).
I fell in love with Mark Knofler and his incredible and perfect guitar playing, not to mention the other members. The Welsh drummer Terry Williams, who replaced the original band drummer Withers, is one of the best for me, after John Bonham. This Sultans of Swings version is irresistible! How can you stay quiet in the chair listening to this? My son loves watching this video, he finds Mark crazy playing so fast!LOL Anyway... This band is in my heart, I have many of their albums, and Alchemy is one that is still mentioned in rock fans' lists. Dire Straits forever! :o)

I have 'Love Over Gold' and 'Money for Nothing' albums on cassette. Always a big favourite.
Have to confess I don't know that album but have " Brothers in Arms" on LP!

Perhaps I'm the age of your father, but I have nothing against Dire Straits.
I am feeling very old after reading your post.
Why?
Because I have never heard of the band Dire Straits.
Oh well I learned something new again today on ABC Wednesday.

I was a teenager long before Dire Straits, but can relate to the attraction music has on teens.

Mark Knophler is a North eastener so he is bound to be great! I have memories of the band during my first teaching job back in 1980
