Here's Yule!

Tonight we're celebrating Yule here in the Southern Hemisphere. The longest night of the year. Winter is officially in Rio... *sigh*. It definitely doesn't fit this city. We should always have sunny, warm days and starry nights. Oh well... I should't complain, sometimes our Summer is so incredibly hot that we can hardly bear it, so it's a good thing we have some cold weather.

We'll have our traditional little feast for the three of us, but I still don't know what I'm going to do for the sabbath dinner... I hope to feel inspired in time! This morning Lucas woke up already asking about the Yule tree. He was, as usual, anxious to decorate it. So, after breakfast, I let him take a little wooden Christmas and hang some tiny ornaments we have. I'm taking after work some pagan images for him to hang on it too. I got a nice little block of wood to be our Yule log, and he'll draw some symbols and whatever else he wants to decorate it. Then, we'll lit the three candles on top of it, and after out ritual is done, we'll burn it for good luck, and keep a piece for next year.

I wish you all who follow the Old Path a beautiful Summer Solstice, as we're opposite in the Wheel of the Year, and a great Friday for the ones who don't! :0)

Happy Yule to you! I love doing our Yule log every year and singing carols by the fire. Seems weird of course here since it's now Summer but you know. :) Blessings

I can not tell you what a delight it does for me to know that one of my "sisters" is practicing Yule at the time I am celebrating Summer Solstice! This internet thing is awesome. :)

It helps me reflect on our Yule and what we do for it. The kids and I all get together and take oranges and cloves and pierce through the oranges. The smell is amazing. We also give out handmade or spiritual gifts. (We still open gifts on the 25th, but that is the "money" holiday. It is also the date of my 5th childs birthday)

I love to think how excited your son is about Yule!

Thank you so much for sharing.
Have a wonderful winter!!

Yuletide blessings to you all.

It's does seem strange that its summer solstice here with me - though no-one would have been able to see the sunrise - too darn cloudy.

Yuletide blessings to you and your family!
I hope your celebration was a good one. Your year is on the upturn again now, while we head slowly to the dark again.

Thanks for your concern for Badger. She's a lot better now. She has her medicine at night, and bounces out of bed in the morning. She still has to be coaxed to eat, but we may have her for a while longer yet!

I hope Yule is beautiful for you this year and that whatever ritual or feasting you do is stunning! I'm sure it will be. It's funny, we had the darkest summer solstice here filled with crazy lightning all around us!
